Wentworth Chevrolet occupies an Art Deco style building that has been a fixture as an auto dealership in the Central Eastside East Portland/Grand Avenue Historic District since the 1920s. AXIS provided an interior remodel to the showroom and its service facility. The project also included seismic improvements, and numerous ADA accessibility upgrades while maintaining the distinct character of the building. AXIS worked very closely with the City of Portland Planning Department to make sure the final design would still be representative of the district personality.

Phasing of this project was important. The owner needed to maintain an active service facility and body shop while the project was in construction. This required a comprehensive phasing plan that temporarily moved entire departments around to different parts of the building while renovations occurred in stages.
