FISHERIES BUILDING - SEISMIC UPGRADE
GRESHAM, OR
Size: 12,140 S.F. | Completed: October 2010
This fast track project required a full structural evaluation of the existing Horticulture and Fisheries building to bring the building up to an essential facility status for emergency use during a major seismic event. AXIS also provided structural design solutions, prepared construction documents, obtained the proper permits, assisted the owner in contractor selection and provided construction administration. Part of the upgrade required removing the skin of the building and updating minor interior changes for lighting, fire, life and safety upgrades. This created the opportunity to upgrade the building’s image and to serve as the pilot for the remainder of the campus’ image upgrade. With this project we choose to lighten the feel of the exterior, emphasize the entries and to introduce natural materials to reconnect with the immediate surrounding vegetation.
